A. The quickest and easiest way to buy something from us is through our online store.  Our site is protected with SSL encryption so you know your details are kept safe, and we have a secure payment gateway through Stripe that accepts all major credit cards – easy peasy! We also accept Afterpay, Zip Money, direct debit, or cash upon pick up from our warehouse (this is by appointment only and needs to be pre-arranged).  

A. While we don't have a fancy showroom, we do have some pieces on display in a small area attached to our warehouse in Ravenhall, VIC.  Only a few items are currently on display, just for the purpose of allowing you to see and feel the quality of our pieces.  If you’d like to visit us, please call or email first to check what we have on display, and also to make an appointment – that way we can ensure someone will be here to open up for you.

A. We don’t have any distributors and only sell directly to the public via our online store and our warehouse in Ravenhall, Melbourne (limited models on display and open by appointment only).

A. If you’re unable to visit our warehouse, but want to see a sample of our cashmere or leather upholstery before purchasing an item, just send an email to info@thedesignedit.com.au to request a free swatch.  Swatches can be used to demonstrate quality and give you an indication of colour, however please note that there may be slight variations in colour between different batches of leather and cashmere.

A. Shipping will vary depending on the dimensions of the product you’re interested in, and where you are having it sent.  On each product page you will find a shipping calculator which you can use to generate a shipping estimate for that product, based on the postcode that you enter and the quantity you select.  The final shipping charge for your whole order will be shown at checkout after you’ve entered your full delivery address, so you can see this amount before you proceed to payment. 

For orders with multiple items, you may notice that the total shipping amount will sometimes be less than the combined shipping charges for all the items in your order.  This is because our warehouse staff are masters of Tetris and we can sometimes send items together, resulting in a reduced shipping total.

A. Our products are delivered by a courier and as such, a person needs to be present at your specified delivery address during standard business hours to receive and sign for the order.  If there generally isn’t someone at your home during business hours, you may want to have your order delivered to a workplace, a neighbour or a friend’s house instead.

Alternatively, at the time of placing your order, you can give permission for the courier to leave the package at your front door, side gate, back porch etc… if no one is home at the time of delivery. 

Please do not list a PO Box as couriers are only able to deliver to a physical address. 

A. Unfortunately we're not able to give the couriers a specific date or time to deliver the package - it can be anytime between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, which is why we ask for an address that's always occupied during business hours.

If you do need your item delivered on a certain day or during a certain week, please put this in the comments section at the time of placing your order, and we will try to accommodate by timing the date of dispatch and also by leaving instructions with the courier – no promises, but we’ll do our best!

A.  We can certainly leave a note for the courier to call you prior to delivery, however since it's not a service that they provide, there's no guarantee that they'll actually do this - it will come down to the individual driver and whether or not they are happy to use their personal mobile phone to call you beforehand. 

A. If the address is unattended at the time of delivery the courier will simply leave a note card which you can use to either arrange a pick-up from their closest depot, or organise a redelivery of the item (charges may apply and are paid directly to the courier company).  If there generally isn’t someone at your home during business hours, you may want to have your order delivered to a workplace, a neighbour or a friend’s house instead.

A. We aim to dispatch all items within 4 business days of an order being placed, and delivery itself should take anywhere between 1 – 6 business days depending on where you are having it sent.  Once dispatched, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number so that you can track the whereabouts of your parcel online via our courier company’s website.

As a guide, shipping times to Australian metro cities are generally as follows:

• Metro Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide: 1 – 2 business days

• Metro Brisbane and Canberra: 2 – 3 business days

• Metro Hobart: 2 – 4 business days

• Metro Perth: 5 – 6 business days

Please note that the above timeframes are our courier’s estimates only, and delivery times may vary during busy periods. Deliveries to areas outside of these metro cities will take longer than what is listed above.

A.  Yes siree!  You are most welcome to pick up your order from our warehouse in Ravenhall, VIC and save on shipping costs.  Just select this as the shipping method when you go through the checkout, and once your order has been prepared, we’ll be in touch with you to organise a date and time for you to come by and collect it.  

A. We check that every item leaves our warehouse in tip top condition, but in the unlikely event that your order is damaged in transit, please notify us within 48 hours of receiving it.  We’ll need you to send through photos of the item and its packaging, and once we’ve assessed the damage, we will organise to either repair or replace the product for you as soon as we can.  

In some instances it may not be viable for us to send a replacement and we may need to issue a full refund upon return of the damaged item instead.  In this case, we would bear the delivery charges associated with having the damaged unit returned to us.

Unfortunately, transit insurance claims made after 48 hours of receiving your order will not be accepted so we strongly recommend that you open up and check your item as soon as you’ve received it!

A. Our furniture items are designed and manufactured to ensure the highest standards of quality and performance, and all come with a 2 year limited warranty against defects due to faulty materials or workmanship. Conditions apply and full details of our product warranty can be found here.

Our homeware items that we source from Australian wholesalers carry the supplier’s 1 year manufacturer warranty.

A. While we don’t have a trade price list, we certainly do offer quantity discounts for builders, designers, architects, hotels and cafes who are looking to purchase in bulk.  For all commercial enquiries, please email sales@thedesignedit.com.au and we’ll put together a quote for you.

A. We won’t give you the spiel about how we buy in bulk, cut out the middle man and reduce our overheads, thereby passing on those savings to you, blah blah, blah…

The simple truth is that we charge less because we make less – we are genuinely interested in developing a long-term relationship with our customers, founded on trust and commitment.  We hope that you will think of us everytime you need a new piece of furniture, and that we will be a part of your home and lives for many years to come.

A. Like with anything else, there are varying levels of quality when it comes to replica furniture.  Our replica pieces are excellent reproductions of the licensed original versions, and we use premium materials such as cashmere, top grain Italian leather and solid hardwoods.  The detailing on these pieces is incredibly intricate, and many items have hand stitched upholstery, and hand sanded timber legs.

A. Our furniture pieces are made by furniture makers in China and Vietnam whose quality management systems are certified under ISO, BSCI and EU standards.  

Our Local Designers furniture pieces are all made right here in Australia by local and passionate artisans.  Each piece is lovingly made with precision and care and inspected by the most critical and stringent eyes of all – those of the maker.
